The guests were addressed by the Dean of the Faculty, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education, Professor Elena Vartanova. In her lecture, she outlined the current state and key trends within the Russian media landscape, and elaborated on the significance of the cultural code in Russia's multi-ethnic society. Responding to questions from the African journalists, Professor Vartanova highlighted the cohesion and unanimity of the Russian people in the face of external challenges as the most defining characteristics of the contemporary domestic media audience. The Dean emphasized that in recent years, the digital environment has become the primary domain for media consumption in Russia, while quality print media, glossy magazines, radio, and television continue to serve as vital sources of information and important media channels.

Following the lecture, Associate Professor Igor Govryakov conducted a tour of the faculty's historic building on Mokhovaya Street. During the tour, the guests had the opportunity to learn about the history of journalism education in Russia.
