Lomonosov MSU Became The Best Russian University According to The Nature Index Ranking 2021

Lomonosov Moscow State University topped the list of Russian universities according to the Nature Index Ranking 2021. It was also ranked one of the best Russian scientific organizations, second only to the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Nature Index provides a close to real-time proxy of high-quality research output and collaboration at the institutional, national and regional level. Each year, it ranks the leading institutions and countries by the amount of scientific articles and papers published in leading journals. According to Rector of MSU Academician Victor Sadovnichiy, the outstanding results were achieved by Lomonosov MSU through the combination of fundamental research and educational activities, multidisciplinary approach, as well as development of new schools, which employ significant research potential to create brand-new educational programs and develop multidisciplinary areas of science.
Each school is dedicated to the most innovative lines of research: from AI to environmental change and space exploration. Thus, MSU relies on innovation and originality, striving to generate and convey new knowledge.
