The lead article headlined ‘Theorizing Russian model of the digital divide’ by E. Vartanova, A. Gladkova, D. Lapin, E. Samorodova, O. Vikhrova investigates the problem of digital divide in Russia, approaching it from three main angles, and suggests a possible solution by introducing a concept of digital passport, as a means of monitoring the digitalization progress in particular regions of the country.

The article headlined ‘Government and youth communications in social media: Theoretical basics and Russian practice’ by A. Gureeva, D. Dunas, O. Muronets examines online interactions between Russian youth and public administration to study socio-cultural determinacy of modern political activism.

The article headlined ‘The concept of interdisciplinary research on intergenerational transmission of communicative and cultural memory’ by G. Simons, M. Muhin, V. Oleshko, A. Sumskaya analyzes communication between analogue and digital generations and addresses the subsequent problem of intergenerational transmission of communicative and cultural memory within the digital environment.

Published by the Faculty of Journalism since 2009, the journal has been providing the general public with latest original research articles in the field of media and journalism studies, thus stimulating a wider public interest in research activities on various aspects of this area. World of Media, with its extensive scope of interest, encourages research in a wide range of scientific areas pertaining to journalism, such as media and journalism studies, communication theories, media policy and regulation, media sociology and psychology, regional studies, digital media, etc. The journal strives to establish an arena for academic discussions and further development of a common approach to understanding both local and global trends in media and journalism.
