The Faculty of Journalism, MSU held two sessions at ‘Digitalization-2019’ forum

On 28 October 2019, the Faculty of Journalism held ‘PR and Digital Media’ sessions within a framework of ‘Digitalization-2019’ international forum organized by Lomonosov Moscow State University. 

The list of speakers included Correspondent Member of the Russian Academy of Education, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, MSU Professor Elena Vartanova, First Deputy General Director for Network Management, Operation and Development of Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network Victor Pinchuk, Digital Director of ‘Vedomosti’ Sergey Paranko, Senior Researcher of the Faculty of Journalism Dr. Anna Gladkova, Head of the Department for Independent Local and Regional Media Relations, ONF Julia Zagitova, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Journalism Dr. Marina Shilina.

The discussion was moderated by Professor Elena Vartanova. The session was focused on transformation of the Russian media industry in the context of digitalization and the development of the digital economy. The speakers also discussed the prospects for the digital television and radio broadcasting in the Russian Federation, as well as the status and future of ethnic media in the new media environment. Experts agreed that the digitalization of the media space changed the traditional roles of journalists and audience, and therefore the media must adapt to new communicative realities. 

The Faculty of Journalism, MSU holds special sessions within the framework of the forum for the second year in a row and organizes discussions aimed at understanding the socio-economic and humanitarian aspects of digitalization.
