The start of “Russian Media and Journalism” summer school

The summer school “Russian Media and Journalism” has started on June 15, 2015. The school is a traditional event which the Faculty of Journalism organizes for foreign student who are interested in exploring Russian media system. The opening ceremony included the lecture by the Dean, Professor Elena Vartanova, who pointed out the main factors and paradoxes of Russian media and journalism.

During the two weeks students will learn about the history and specifics of press, radio, TV and online media in Russia.  They will also have a chance to compare the Russian and U. S. social media and online videos. The participants will also discuss some issues of media management and intercultural communication.

Another important part of the school consists of tours to different Russian media companies. The students will visit The Moscow Times, Russia Beyond the Headlines, Kommersant and Russia Today editorial offices in order to acquire some practical knowledge when talking to experienced journalists.

At the end of the program  the participants will produce a special volume of the “Journalist” newspaper to share their knowledge and impressions. They will also receive international certificates of course completion.
