Held on April 11, the assembly brought together experts, entrepreneurs, and authority figures from 7 countries, who discussed future lines of collaboration between the Caspian states. The Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, RAE Academician, Professor Elena Vartanova co-organized a round table discussion on the problems of the Caspian Sea in the information space. Other events included international conference, expert forums, and an online photo exhibition.
The University received 17 honorary nominations and scored maximum points in 12 academic areas, including philology and journalism. Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University noted that consistent leadership of Moscow State University in major university rankings reflects the quality and fundamental character of education.
Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev headed the celebrations. Prominent Russian conductor was awarded the Star of Moscow University. The concert coincided with the 30-year anniversary of Professor Sadovnichiy’s rectorship.
Lomonosov Moscow State University will hold Virtual Open Day for international students. The program includes welcoming lecture by the Rector, info session on the admission procedure, and info sessions at the Faculties. Live chat with University scholars will enable the listeners to ask questions in real time.
On February 3–5, the Faculty of Journalism held traditional ‘Journalism: Creativity, Profession, Industry’ conference. The academic event included a meeting of the Russian Council for Journalism Education, 2 plenary sessions, 1 English-language special panel, 29 thematic sessions, and 18 round table meetings. The speakers discussed the most acute issues of journalism studies related to the digitalization and mediatization of society, e.g. new content strategies, new methods of journalism education, business models in digital environment, new media, online reputation, digital capital, digital youth, modern media language and many other interesting problems.
New topical seminar was held on February 1 st . Professor Hannu Nieminen gave a historical account of the freedom of speech and focused on the related issues arising in the age of globalisation. Dr. Oleg Bukoulin talked about photojournalism focusing on its power to induce social transformations.

The annual National Association of Mass Media Researchers (NAMMR) conference was held online on December 8. The event was opened with a plenary session featuring talks by both Faculty scholars and their colleagues from other universities. The plenary session was completed with the awarding ceremony and followed by a range of online sessions, which featured discussions on the most burning issues of journalism.
New topical seminar was held on December 7th. Members of IAMCR’s Communication in Post- and Neo-Authoritarian Societies Working Group, Dr. Katja Lehtisaari (Tampere University, Finland) and Dr. Anastasia Grusha (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia) gave talks on different aspects of public sphere communication.
