European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) is a scientific community, which is aimed at communication research and development of higher education in this sphere in Europe and around the world. ECREA was formed in November 1995 and comprises about 1500 members divided into 15 sections and two social networks. The organization publishes books, holds summer schools for young researchers, runs conferences and seminars, which allows us to highlight its significant role in the development of communication science and education on European and world-wide scale.

The Faculty of Journalism, Lomonosov Moscow State University is an active member of ECREA. Lecturers and Faculty staff members take part in the regular conference of the association, conduct regular research activities in cooperation with the members of ECREA from other countries. Besides, they publish the results of such research projects in authoritative scientific journals. The membership of NAMMI in ECREA is vital for the development of international links, implementation of cooperative research activity and for increasing the interest to Russian media research on an international level.
