The 70th anniversary of journalistic education in MSU and 65th anniversary of Faculty of Journalism

On June 2, 2017 the Faculty of Journalism celebrated both the 65th birthday and 70th anniversary of journalistic education in MSU.
 
Zhurfak started his way in 1947 as a part of the Faculty of Philology but it became a separate Faculty in 1952. It united three Chairs and 12 lecturers. Today the Faculty of Journalism has 13 Chairs, 3 laboratories and a multimedia center. The Faculty’s staff includes 36 professors and 100 associate professors.
 
The celebration started with opening of photo exhibition which presented portraits of key members and lecturers who created and shaped Zhurfak. The Dean Professor Elena Vartanova emphasized that not only profession but also people on those portraits united faculty graduates. The President of the Faculty Professor Yassen Zassoursky claimed that people who started Zhurfak stayed forever in memory of its students.

The Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Professor Viktor Sadovnichiy approached students and graduates in video call. «The Faculty of Journalism has always prepared respectable professionals who stand up for truth and justice» - he noted in his speech.

During her congratulatory address Professor Elena Vartanova paid attention to connection between students’ generations: “I am glad that our Faculty is still a leader of media education in Russia. It is nice to see that our students continue to seek for the truth”.

The holiday evening came to an end with concert of the jazz orchestra of MSU.
