The II International Conference “Counteraction to Pseudoscience in Modern Media Space: Capability of Scientific Communications”

On September 29-30, 2016 the faculty of Journalism, MSU hosted the II International Conference “Counteraction to Pseudoscience in Modern Media Space: Capability of Scientific Communications” supported by Ministry of Education and Science and Committee for Counteraction to Pseudoscience and Falsification of Scientific Research under the presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

‘It is very important to create new communicative platforms in the modern media environment and involve the youth in research activities’ – said director of Department for science and technology of Ministry of Education and Science during his opening speech. The Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, MSU shared his ideas and emphasized the necessity of “bridge between people and academic community”.

The conference consisted of several parts: public talk (“Pseudoscience as a research object”), sessions (“Biomedical research as a main sphere of pseudoscientific risks” and “Theoretical and methodological philosophical conceptions of pseudoscience as social phenomenon”), workshop (“The techniques oа scientific communications”) and round table (“The scientific communications potential in the digital media space”).

During the events of the conference academic community and scientific journalists discussed the philosophical and social problems of pseudoscience and formed several recommendations for the once who are working with scientific communication.
