Moscow Workshop to Teach Social Media Skills

On July 07 and 08 the Faculty of Journalism, Lomonosov Moscow State University organized the 2-day workshop on best practices for using social media. This seminar was organized for the second time already: the first one took place a few years ago.

The training team, which included US experts: Randy Covington, the director of Newsplex, a newsroom of the future at the University of South Carolina, Mary Nahorniak, the social media editor of the newspaper USA Today, Keely Saye, an expert in the area of “inbound marketing" and Jordan Ellis, an information technology specialist showed the participants how to create websites integrating new or their existing accounts for social media platforms like VK, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and utilizing techniques learned in the seminar. Dr. Anastasia Folz, Associate Professor at the Chair of New Media and Theory of Communication, took part in the workshop as one of the trainers.

The total number of the participants was 25 persons, including faculty and graduate students from MSU, Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Liberal Arts University in Ekaterinburg and Russian media practitioners.
