Zassoursky.jpg Yassen Zassoursky (1929-2021) was Professor, President of the Faculty of Journalism, Lomonosov Moscow State University and Chair in Foreign Journalism and Literature. Professor Zassoursky was the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism from 1965 till 2007.

Professor Zassoursky was a well-known scholar and lecturer. He published numerous books and articles on theory and history of journalism and communication, including 17 textbooks and 16 monographs – “History of Foreign Press”, “History of Modern American Literature in XX century” and others. Professor Zassoursky is member of IAMCR, head of UNESCO chair in Journalism and Mass Communications at the Faculty of Journalism, Lomonosov Moscow State University, member of Russian Union of Journalists, Russian Union of Writers, expert of Russian Federation in the Council of Europe.

His main research interests were theory and history of mass communications and media, American studies, history of American literature, transitional media models and comparative studies of Russian and American media systems, media image of the country, Information Society and the media, mobile communication and society, information technologies and globalization.
