The Journalism School was founded in 1947 at the Department of Philology of the Moscow State University. In 1952 it was reorganised as an independent Department of Journalism. Today it is considered to be the leading institution for journalism and mass communication education in Moscow, Russia and CIS countries.
Since its foundation about 15,000 mass media specialists who currently work in different print outlets, TV channels, radio stations, news agencies in Russia and abroad graduated from the Department of Journalism. More than 600 international students from Europe, Asia, Africa and America pursued their degree in the Department of Journalism. About 300 graduates from ClS and other foreign countries studied here.
The graduates of the Department of Journalism are highly appreciated at both Russian and foreign media. The MSU journalism school has earned its outstanding reputation for the high standards of academic education and practice-orientated courses. The Department of Journalism offers Bachelor and Master degree programmes. Besides, students have the opportunity to continue their education as doctoral candidates.
